By Ted Grussing… my shadow … plus one, minus one. The shadow for the lead Ringneck duck was below the crop of the photo so we have two of “me” and one shadow … if that makes any sense I would be thoroughly surprised, but since I am writing the narrative it works for me. Took the shot at Bubbling Ponds last fall and as always I enjoy shooting wildlife in action and by making the crop I gave the photo better composition and hit all thirds.

This WKC awards prizes to participants for points based on the animals they kill including bobcats (3), coyotes (2) and foxes (1).Growing up in rural NH where generations of my family owned and operated a farm, I was a young and proud member of 4H. Prescott AZ (January 5, 2019) – On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, Realtor Bob Beyea representing BloomTree Realty in Prescott, presented a $500 check to Sheriff Mascher for use in the Yavapai Silent Witness reward program. Bob told the Sheriff he and his team want to be part of the solution regarding recent issues involving Fentanyl overdoses in the community. He directed that the monies be used by Silent Witness to encourage tips identifying drug dealers in the area selling this deadly narcotic.

Camp Verde AZ (January 5, 2019) – The next Music in the Stacks, a free monthly concert series, will take place on Thursday, January 10th at 5:30 pm in Camp Verde Community Library’s Fireside Room. Music in the Stacks is a showcase of local and national musicians who entertain regularly in Northern Arizona. There are 4-6 different performers during the show, with a rotating variety each month.

Be prepared for the unexpected; delay travel if possibleFlagstaff AZ (January 4, 2019) – With another snowstorm in the forecast for Arizona’s high country this weekend, it’s important to remember to delay travel and stay off the roads if possible.During recent snowstorms, sections of Interstate 17 north of Cordes Junction and State Route 89A near Jerome closed due to crashes and heavy snowfall. State routes 169 and 260 were also closed. These kinds of unexpected events can occur when there is inclement weather; therefore, it’s safest to wait out the storm before driving.

The choice to take flight rather stay and risk a possible fight or other bad thing … no predator on the prowl though, only a guy with a camera. The coot proved to be a beautiful subject.
