… charging into life in 2019 … actually it was January 2018 when I took this shot, but the intensity and purpose are as relevant in 2019 as 2018. The choice to take flight rather stay and risk a possible fight or other bad thing … no predator on the prowl though, only a guy with a camera. The coot proved to be a beautiful subject.

Shot with the Canon 1DX, 100/400 lens, f/5.6, ISO 800, shutter speed 1/1600th of a second.

A busy day playing catch up on emails … only 136 to go now and hoping to be there tomorrow night. Thinking about flying in the afternoon, but cold weather is kind of a deal breaker now … 50’s and up is okay, 30’s and 40’s not so much.

Resume teaching photography classes to kids at Mountain View school in Cottonwood on Friday and truly enjoy them. They are great kids!

Tearing a friends computer down over the next couple of days and seeing if I can fix a couple of quirky bugs in it. Also starting to get the itch to build another one for me; I certainly do not need a faster or better computer, but it is two years since I built this one and new generations of CPU’s are available. Think it will just be a new motherboard, CPU and ram like the last time. Oh well, probably nothing for a few weeks, maybe months. Geez, I’ve got the bug again.

Have a beautiful day and rest of the week … into the weekend for me and if all goes as planned, I’ll be back Monday morning. Keep breathing and smile a lot … life is so good!

    Cheers

A bird flies through the sky, and I fly with it. I am each pearl of moisture sparkling in the sun.
I lie lazy on the clouds. And I acknowledge my kinship with each winged thing.
I see all as one, and nothing repels me, as this new day climbs noiselessly out of the valley of the night.
Peace lies over the world and over the world of my soul.

The Sad Lesson of Tyre Nichols
    By Tommy Acosta
Having grown up in the mean streets of the Bronx there is one lesson we learn early on, and that’s don’t mess with the cops when they got you down, and outnumbered. The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
