By Ted Grussing… yesterday was a great day shooting the blue herons with many in flight and towards the end of day they were heading into high perches … there was a fair wind at tree top levels and this great blue heron was having a problem getting a firm grip on the tiny branches at the top of the tree … wings extended to give him stability as he once again attempted to get a good grip on the branches. He did succeed in the end.

Diverse Stakeholders Contribute, Identify Areas for ImprovementCottonwood AZ (February 19, 2020) – The first-ever Verde River Watershed Report Card was released on Feb. 18 at 5pm at VerdeReportCard.org. The report card provides an overall assessment of the health of the watershed. The watershed earned an overall score of 57%, a C+. Of the three categories – water, communities and habitat – water and habitat had moderate scores, 48% and 54% respectively, and communities scored the highest with a score of 59%.

For wildlife in the area it is like having a free buffet spread out for them and eases the burden of the hunt.

Took this shot Saturday morning over at Eric’s with my new Canon 1DX MK III and absolutely love the camera; the tracking capabilities of the camera are absolutely awesome and the sensor is virtually noise free even at higher ISO settings. It is definitely more than a few steps above my original 1DX MK I bodies, but they are with technology from 8 years ago … they are great cameras’ though.
