Flagstaff AZ (December 5, 2011) – Pending favorable conditions, fire managers on the Coconino National Forest are tentatively planning to conduct prescribed pile burns in Oak Creek Canyon and off Elden Lookout Road tomorrow, Tuesday December 6, 2011. Oak Creek Canyon Project: 15 acres located north of Sedona in Oak Creek Canyon southeast of Cave Springs campground and west of Bootlegger Day Use Area. During the day, the majority of smoke will rise and disperse to the east. Overnight, residual smoke will settle into private inholdings near Cave Springs campground. Sedona AZ (December 5, 2011) – The Sedona Marathon is pleased to announce that they will be partnering with Team USA Arizona for a “Running Clinic” as part of the 7th Annual Sedona Marathon. Team USA Arizona is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help post-collegiate distance runners who live and train in Flagstaff achieve their Olympic dreams. Sedona AZ (December 2, 2011) – The City of Sedona is currently accepting applications to fill two openings on the Historic Preservation Commission.  The three-year term begins upon appointment and ends on November 30, 2014.  The Commission consists of seven members.  Five members of the Commission must live in the Sedona city limits and up to two members are allowed to live outside of the City limits as long as they meet other selection criteria. Flagstaff AZ (December 2, 2011) – Today the Flagstaff Fire Department’s Wildland Fire Crew will be partnering with AZ State Forestry to conduct a 40 acre prescribed pile burn. The National Weather Service has forecasted snow for today and into the weekend which will reduce smoke impact. Sedona AZ (December 1, 2011) – The City Council has appropriated $4,000 in fiscal year 2011-12 to implement the sixth year of the Historic Preservation Commission Small Grant Program.  These competitive grants will be given to the owners of a designated local landmark property or a structure or site eligible to be a landmark that has been identified in the City’s Historic Resource Survey.  Over the last five years, 19 grants have been made.  The program is intended to be an incentive to designate a property as a local historic landmark.
