Sedona AZ (March 19, 2012) – Allyson Holmes and Steve Segner have been appointed to the Historic Preservation Commission by the Sedona City Council.  Holmes will serve a three-year term and Segner will fill a vacancy that ends in one year. The Historic Preservation Commission is responsible for preserving historic sites, buildings and unique features of the community.  The commission also hosts special events to help educate residents and celebrate local history such as National Historic Preservation Month and the year-long activities associated with Arizona’s Centennial.

Cottonwood AZ (March 16, 2012) – The Verde River Citizens Alliance in partnership with the City of Cottonwood will celebrate the installation of a Rainwater Collection Cistern at City Hall on Saturday, March 24th at 9:30 AM.  This cistern was home built by the VRCA at a cost of about $600. It holds approximately 360 gallons, enough to support a small garden. More info is available at verderivervrca.org  The public is invited to see this system debut in the Verde Valley. Cottonwood AZ (March 14, 2012) – PRELIMINARY INFORMATION – On March 13, 2012, at approximately 11:15 AM, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported vehicle vs. bicycle collision in the 900 block of Rio Mesa Trail, Cottonwood (Verde Villages). EMS personnel were treating the injured bicyclist who was eventually flown to Flagstaff Medical Center due to head trauma and a possible broken arm. The bicyclist is identified as Michael Moore, 27, from Glendale, Arizona. Moore was in surgery yesterday and remains in intensive care. An updated condition was not available at the time of this release.

Sedona AZ (March 14, 2012) – For the 3rd year WTPC Rescue is sponsoring Free Cat Spay Month in the Sedona and the Verde Valley.  This unprecedented project will run throughout March. All female cats, as young as eight weeks old as long as they weigh in at one pound, qualify for the program. AM Arizona morning talk show host Tonya Mock says of the program “Free Cat Spay Month provides an essential service to the Verde Valley, saving countless innocent animals from being needlessly euthanized because people are unable to find homes for them.”
