Verde Valley AZ (August 25, 2016) – Due to a recent influx of reported IRS tax scam calls over the last few days, the Sheriff’s Office is reissuing updated informational warnings shared late last year. Almost daily, many Sheriff’s Office employees are also receiving the scam calls.The most common complaint involves scam artists acting as IRS agents and calling to demand money or indicate a tax refund is due as a means to obtain personal information. Cottonwood AZ (August 24, 2016) – On Tuesday, September 6th from 10:30 a.m. to approximately 2:00 p.m., a free field trip, “Beaver Blather and Otter Nonsense: Roles of Aquatic Mammals in Riparian Health”, will take participants along the Verde River to learn about beavers and otters, and the role they play in the ecosystem. Those who wish to join should meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Yavapai County Administration Building’s Board Room at 10 S. 6th Street in Cottonwood. This field trip is part of the Verde River Basin Partnership’s (Partnership) ongoing free monthly program series for the public.

These subjects dominated the discussions of more than 70 high school students at the Future Leaders Forum on August 18. The Forum was conducted by Arizona Town Hall and the Verde Valley Forum for Public Affairs, and was held at the Clarkdale campus of Yavapai College.

Verde Valley AZ (August 23, 2016) – Stabbing – On August 20, 2016, at approximately 10:30 PM, YCSO deputies were dispatched to an apartment building located at 70 Bell Rock Blvd, Village of Oak Creek, regarding a family fight. The caller reported that her brother, 22-year-old Erasmo Nevarez, was attacking her husband, 27, with a screwdriver.

All beautiful and black with freshly painted markings … cool!The published altitude of the runway is 4827’, but with the 2% slope and the runway being 5100’ long, at the S end (R3) it is about 4775’ and at the N end about 4880’. I took this shot this morning as I was just finishing the turn from base to a very short final for R3.
