I spent quite a bit of time this afternoon cruising the slopes and shot this on my last pass before heading home. I started my runs a few hundred feet above the peaks and worked my way down. Agassiz is the peak visible in this shot and is the peak that you see when coming North on I-17 … it is only a few hundred feet lower…

Prescott AZ (February 17, 2018) – Following an email notification, a Prescott resident recently received a priority mail envelope with instructions on enrolling in a secret shopper program providing ‘undercover’ surveys of local businesses. Also included in the envelope was a check for $2972.00 made out the homeowner. “John” instructs the participant to cash the check and use a portion of the cash for ‘expenses’ when conducting the survey. Additionally, a major portion of the money is designated for the purchase of (4) pre-paid credit cards at $650 each, a total of $2600.

Sedona AZ (February 17, 2018) – Sedona photographer Jim Peterson is showing a broad selection of his most significant images in a major exhibit at the Sedona Posse Grounds Hub.  The show, which runs through April 17, is open to the public and includes fine art prints tracing the development of Peterson’s photographic vision since he first began working in the digital medium 15 years ago.An artist’s reception is scheduled for the evening of Friday, March 9, from 4:30 to 7:30 PM, and all are invited to attend.  The reception will include readings from local poets of poems on subjects related to the…

Cottonwood AZ (February 16, 2018) – On Friday February 16th, at approximately 6:15 am, the Verde Valley Fire District responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy260 & Western Dr.VVFD was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident blocking the East bound lanes of Hwy260. On arrival crews found 1 vehicle, with heavy damage to the front end, and 1 occupant out of the vehicle sitting on the sidewalk. The occupant had minor injuries and was evaluated by paramedics but did not need transport to a hospital.

Woodson, one of the first African Americans to receive a doctorate from Harvard, is known as the “Father of Black History Month.” He started Negro History Week in 1926, choosing a week in February to honor the birth months of President Abraham Lincoln and abolitionist Frederick Douglass. Over time, support for the celebration grew, and in 1976 President Gerald Ford declared February as Black History Month.

On cue from the mayor, the entire council and everyone in attendance spontaneously rose up in unison and broke into a chant. Clarkdale AZ (February 14, 2018) – This month only, Contra dance in Clarkdale will be held on the 4th Saturday: Feb. 24th. The band will be Under the Bridge, featuring Sonja Whisman on fiddle and Ron Barton on guitar.
