… a little bonus in case you are inclined to head to Snow Bowl this weekend … yes there is a lot of snow and it appears all runs are open. I spent quite a bit of time this afternoon cruising the slopes and shot this on my last pass before heading home. I started my runs a few hundred feet above the peaks and worked my way down. Agassiz is the peak visible in this shot and is the peak that you see when coming North on I-17 … it is only a few hundred feet lower than Humphreys Peak and given the angle of view from the highway totally blocks out Humphreys.

I was at 11,520’ when I took this shot which is about 800’ below the peak … lots of skiers on the lifts and the slopes … the moguls on the run on the left look awesome which is probably why there are only a few skiers taking that run.

The mountain to the right of the slope of Agassiz is Mt. Elden which tops out at about 9300’.

Anyhow, have a terrific weekend, if you are a skier, you’re in luck, it looks good!

    Cheers

    A Bad Moon Rising

    By Tommy Acosta
What the hell is going on? Is the fabric of society in the U.S. tearing apart at the seams? Watching those videos of teens gone wild, smashing windows, stealing from shopping centers, laughing while running over bicyclists — an omen of things to come? What can be done? Catch them? Incarcerate them. Put them in jails until they learn enough about crime to come out as skilled criminals? These kids, these young men and women of color, are growing wild in the streets. From fatherless homes, unable to properly read or write, a dismal and destitute future ahead of them. What is going to happen when they reach adulthood? The cops can’t stop them. There are simply too many. They can flash mob a phalanx of cops and just run berserk around them. What are the police to do? Shoot them? Read more→
