Verde Valley AZ (March 13, 2015) – On Thursday afternoon at about 15:55 hours, the Montezuma Rimrock, Sedona, and Verde Valley Fire Districts were dispatched to a report of a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 17 just south of the Sedona/Highway 179 Interchange. Camp Verde AZ (March 11, 2015) – On March 9, 2015, at approximately 3:30 AM, YCSO deputies were dispatched to suspicious activity on I-17 south of Camp Verde, Arizona. The reporting person told deputies he picked up a stranded motorist who had passed him on I17 and then pulled over as if in some type of trouble. The reporting person stopped to assist and agreed to take the man, identified as 28-year-old Darrin Miles, to the nearby Comfort Inn hotel as requested by Miles. Verde Valley AZ (March 9, 2015) – In the last several days, YCSO has received numerous reports regarding IRS tax scams. The most common complaint involves scam artists acting as IRS agents and calling to demand money or indicate a tax refund is due as a means to obtain personal information. When the scam concerns the claim of an overdue tax payment, the scammers will demand the taxpayer send cash via prepaid debit cards. The calls are also intimidating because many of the scammers already had specific knowledge regarding victim identities.
By Ted Grussing … bad guys … my friend Rich along with Brent & Gary stopped in Sedona on the way back to California with the newest tool in the CHP’s arsenal in crime fighting and apprehending the bad guys. The ship is a Gipps Aero GA8 -TC 320 Airvan and has an impressive array of optics and electronic surveillance equipment on board. At night it is possible for them to see a suspect toss a gun from 6,000’ AGL and two miles away.
