By Elizabeth Cate, Collection Development Librarian Sedona AZ (February 21, 2012) – Over the next few weeks, you may encounter a volunteer in the stacks carefully examining books and other library materials and setting aside certain items on her book cart. By J. Marie Lehr Sedona AZ (February 21, 2012) – So Smart, So Right took home the prize this evening for both tourists and locals. Close in second was Chasing Water. A passionate film of the enormous change exhibited by the Colorado River streamed aerial views of what would have been perennial flow 90 miles to gray matter disposal. The film had many, including myself, in tears. The question and answer discussion placed, next to education, innovation. Former Mayor and representative of the regional water interest group, Verde River Basin Partnership, Tony Gioia, commented, “Education is the key.” The organization received…

During the next 40 years, I faced many moments of alarm and frustration as I tried to pin my expectations onto a man who…

by Mel Copen Sedona AZ (February 12, 2012) – It’s fascinating to watch the Republicans struggle to pick a candidate to run against President Obama.  It would likely be equally fascinating if the shoe were on the other foot. It’s a great circus that many Americans, despite their disgust with the whole process, find amusing. A good analogy can probably be found in the world of “professional” wrestling.  Everyone knows that it’s phony and fixed, yet people turn out by the thousands to enjoy the antics of the performers and often get sucked in to the point that they forget what it…

By Marcela Saldivia, Ph D, Latino Services Librarian Sedona AZ (January 24, 2012) – Every New Year, it’s a common practice to reflect on our lives and make resolutions for self-improvement. Personally, as a book lover, my life revolves around books, and when I look back I think about what I read or didn’t read. This New Year, instead of focusing on boring resolutions such as getting up earlier to make it to the gym or eating less carbs, my New Year’s resolutions are pretty much a list of books I wish to get my hands on. As a book lover…
