Clarkdale AZ (December 7, 2018) – The Annual Cash for College Scholarship Awareness Night in Clarkdale brought together 24 scholarship providers and nearly 200 Sedona and Verde Valley high school and adult students and their families to learn about local scholarship opportunities. The event, hosted by the Arizona Community Foundation of Sedona in partnership with the Arizona Community Foundation of Yavapai County and sponsored by Yavapai College, is part of an ongoing effort to increase awareness about financial support for higher education available to high school students and adult students of all ages.

Sedona AZ (December 7, 2018) – The Sedona City Council adopted a new Land Development Code (LDC) and Zoning Map on Nov. 14. The new LDC will take effect Dec. 14, and the section on Urban Agriculture, the keeping of bees and chickens, will take effect on March 31, 2019.

Martha Summerhayes, the young bride of an Army lieutenant, did just that and shared her adventures in her book “Vanished Arizona:  Recollections of the Army Life of a New England Woman.” This classic book was first published in 1908 and reprinted several times. Martha’s book is still being read, discussed, and enjoyed today.

Now imagine that the primary arteries of the heart are SR89a heading west, SR89a heading north and SR179 heading south. By Ted Grussing… of air … of space between clouds and ground and mountains hidden from view. Such was this flight back on October 9th when I had to fly high to get to Flagstaff and then drop down through a blue hole in the clouds to go under and shoot the color and snow on the San Francisco Peaks. Actually, it was one of the more awesome flights I have had in recent years. Clouds formed, some dissipated , but overall it mostly clouds. Cornville AZ (December 6, 2018) – On Thursday Dec. 6th at approximately 8:00am, the Verde Valley Fire District responded to a motor vehicle accident on Page Springs Rd..VVFD was dispatched to a 2 vehicle rear end accident blocking 1 lane of traffic. On arrival crews found 2 vehicles, 1 with minor damage and 1 with moderate damage, with a total of 4 occupants who had exited their vehicles. 1 adult and 2 minors were evaluated for injuries but did not require transport while the other adult did not enter the system.  For further questions please contact Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.

Sedona AZ (December 6, 2018) – Joan Miller will offer a cross stitch ornament making workshop at Sedona Heritage Museum on Monday, December 17th at 11:00 a.m. Participants will learn how to make counted cross stitch snowflake mitten ornaments to hang on the tree or use as a package decoration.  All materials will be furnished including the pattern, 11 count Aida, floss, needle, backing fabric and template for finishing your ornament.  The class is limited to 10 participants.
