Sedona AZ (September 19, 2019) – Monday at the Museum will feature a class on Appalachian Folk Art Broom making on Monday, September 30th from 11:00-2:00pm. Your instructor Carolyn Grebenstein, from Bearcat Studio, will teach you how to make your own cob-Webber broom. Each participant leaves with the broom they make. This class does require an RSVP and it costs $7/person. No children under 10. This craft does require some light pulling but no sewing at all.

Cottonwood AZ (September 18, 2019) – On Friday Sept. 13th, at approximately 11:30pm, the Verde Valley Fire District responded to a Residential assignment in the Amante subdivision by Verde Santa Fe. On arrival crews found an built in barbeque on fire under a covered porch. Crews were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to the house. Assisting Verde Valley Fire was Cottonwood Fire and YCSO.

Cottonwood AZ (September 18, 2019) – This is a case where a detective’s knowledge of the area and some of its criminal players pays off. On September 8, 2019, deputies were dispatched to the 1100 block of E Willow Point, Cornville, regarding a burglary report. The victim indicated the suspects had entered two homes and several outbuildings on their property taking numerous items of value. Clarkdale AZ (September 17, 2019) – Today at approximately 11:00 a.m, a neighbor of Clarkdale Jerome School was doing construction work at his residence and using a gunpowder-loaded nail gun to drive nails into concrete. Upon hearing the noise resembling gun shots, teachers alerted the authorities and the school went into lockdown immediately. Clarkdale police officers were on the scene. The school remained under lockdown until the source of the noise was identified. The lockdown was conducted smoothly based on previously practiced procedures.

By Ted Grussing… I took this shot yesterday too and it is of a Coopers Hawk that just launched from the tree branch above him. Their nest is in a tree across the arroyo from us so I seem to be getting shots from his six. Oh well, it is an incentive for me to start feeding the tweety birds in our backyard again as then there is a good chance he will face us and drop in to get a bird in flight. Cottonwood AZ (September 17, 2019) – On September 14, 2019, just before 4 PM, YCSO deputies were dispatched to the Country Store on Western Drive at Highway 260, Cottonwood, regarding a man throwing beer cans out his window and yelling at folks nearby. It was also reported there were young children in his vehicle.   The first deputy arrived and found 40-year-old Christian Mattos from Cottonwood, asleep at the wheel of a running white Toyota pick-up truck. In the back seat of the truck were two and three-year-old boys.
