Flagstaff AZ (January 11, 2012) – Flagstaff Area National Monuments will be joining national park units around the country as they waive entrance fees on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, in recognition of his civil rights efforts.  Entrance fees will be waived for all visitors to Flagstaff Area National Monuments and Wupatki National Monuments, January 14 through January 16, 2012. Visitors arriving in the monuments on any one of those three days will be allowed to enter free of charge.  The visitor centers will have Interagency Senior and Annual Passes available for those who wish to purchase them.

Sedona AZ (January 11, 2012) – In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the U.S. Forest Service will waive day-use fees for the weekend of January 14 through 16, associated with many recreation sites on the Coconino National Forest, including the Red Rock Pass Area. This fee free weekend is being offered in cooperation with other agencies that collect recreation fees under authority of the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (REA), including: the National Park Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Bureau of Land Management.

Verde Valley AZ (January 9, 2012) – MATFORCE is seeking entries in its annual “My Voice Makes a Difference” Youth Video Contest.   Area youth ages 11 to 18 are invited to let their voices be heard by creating a video depicting how their voice makes a positive difference in helping to reduce drug and alcohol abuse.
