Sedona AZ (December 12, 2019) – The developers of Spring Creek Ranch plan to put in 1,900 manufactured homes and 600 RV pads on their property on either side of Spring Creek. Manufactured homes will be selected from an offering provided by the developer. Purchasers of these homes will not own the land, which they will have to rent from the developer. In addition, there will be 400 rental units and a 200-unit assisted living facility – for a total of 3,100 units.
To build this new community, the developer has applied for rezoning, from RCU-2A (Residential; Rural) to PAD (Planned Area Development).
Keep Sedona Beautiful is not opposed to development. One of our mottos is “Keep Sedona Beautiful – It’s Good Business”. However, this proposal is far too large and too dense for this area. It would place unwise burdens on our finite resources, it will place unacceptable stresses on Spring Creek, and it is entirely out of character with the rural community within which it is planned.

Thanks for publishing the Craig Swanson reminder of the P&Z meeting regarding the zoning change request for Spring Creek Ranch. Residents of Cornville appreciate the support of every and any organization who understands the massive population explosion, traffic blocking, nature invading proposal for simple personal greed and benefit of very few. It’s basically bringing a version of Sun City to north central AZ. The developers thought no one would be paying attention, but do to the hard work of many people and the error-filled diatribes of local papers who hope more people will mean more businesses and opportunities to line their advertising pockets, hundreds of Cornvillians have been attending meetings in unison to stop this invasion in its tracks.
Thanks also to KSB and other surrounding organizations and individuals for their support role in this Cornville issue. If this development is permitted, even in a scale half of what is being proposed, they may feel the entitlement to build these massive projects all over Arizona. Hope to see people from all over the state having the back of Cornville, an unincorporated rural farming, ranching, residential community.
