Saw this whilst sitting with One in the grass out back of the house; it was warm and lying in the cool damp grass is a nice way for her to cool off between bursts of speed as my little predator launches attacks on lizards, bunnies, birds and squirrels. Then it is back into our home, a…

Now, however, smart phones and tablets are utilized in much broader ways: texting, shopping, finding a restaurant, getting driving directions, banking, using social media and more.
By Curtis LindnerCottonwood ResidentDear Editor,I’m no lawyer, but even the public knows it’s wrong to cloak a city committee’s deliberations in secrecy when none is needed. Anybody diligently doing the public’s business or spending the public’s money should be scrutinized. What’s at issue here is a broader point than transparency within the City’s budget, and something that is far more important to Cottonwood’s citizens. What the public deserves is open meeting transparency — not the Verde News supporting the City of Cottonwood’s alleged ‘transparency propaganda’.

Information and Perspective by Warren Woodward(June 17, 2016)I received a lofty press release from the corrupt and incompetent Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) the other day (here: http://www.azcc.gov//Divisions/Administration/news/2016Releases/6-14-2016%20Code%20of%20Ethics.pdf ). In an act of political desperation, the ACC is considering creating an ACC “Code of Ethics.” I about gagged. I think most of us would be satisfied if the ACC just followed state statutes for a change.Clearly this is a lame attempt by the ACC Republican commissioners (none are of any other party) to whitewash the disgraceful shambles they’ve made of running the ACC over the last several years, and do so…
