By Ted Grussing… some photographs call out to be looked at again and memories are recalled … such an image is this one of a Golden Retriever puppy who had had enough of the sun and enough of the heat; mom would understand and so she sat in a large pan of drinking water to cool herself off … the expression on her face says it all as she lives in the present some fifteen years ago. She was one of Fran’s pups and was raised to be a service dog; through her Hairy Angel Foundation Fran raised, trained and gave…
By Henry Twombly, Sedona Resident(October 19, 2017)The SFD is mounting a full-court-press, fearmongering campaign to convince us residents to pass their $17.9m bond. I have already received two Safer Sedona fliers, exhorting me to do the right thing. By Ted Grussing… at least that is what this Cormorant was doing to keep his head out of the massive spray he created when he landed on Watson Lake this afternoon. It was a beautiful afternoon on the lake and the sunset was equally beautiful; I was busy getting the boat and trailer ready for transport so I didn’t get any shots of it, but my friend did. Just something special about being on water when it is quiet and then to have the surface ripped apart by a landing waterfowl …. And then within minutes the serenity and peace…

I didn’t know how to sort out my thoughts and feelings enough to write about it. One morning, as I walked my dogs, I got it! My task, at 70, is to welcome 70.While 50 and 60 treated me gently, 70 delivered the message, “Get serious! The end approaches!” Get serious? Really? What does that even mean? “Hurry up to accomplish all the things you’ve been…
