Sedona AZ (June 3, 2019) – At the May 29, 2019, council meeting, council members directed staff to proceed with another Sedona in Motion project, the Forest Road extension, and chose Design Option 1. The council also directed that the design include a sidewalk and bike lane, or shared-use bike/walk pathway.A 2018 survey of Uptown residents found 78 percent supported building the extension. Drivers could experience delays up to 30 minutes while SR 89A is reduced to one lane only.Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, and Thursday, June 6.
Camp Verde AZ (June 1, 2019) – Fire managers with the Mogollon Rim Ranger District are evaluating whether or not a recent lightning-caused wildfire above Mogollon Rim would be beneficial to the area by allowing it to burn and consume dense forest fuels.The Coldwater Fire, discovered Thursday morning, is approximately 40 acres and about 4 miles directly south of Clints Well, near Coldwater spring. The fire poses no danger or threat to any residents or structures, but it is producing smoke visible to motorists along state Route 87 and recreationists in the area.

Prescott AZ (May 31, 2019) – The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in determining the identity of a male found on March 22, 2018, in the area of the Verde River and White Bluff, approximately 4-5 miles upstream from Sheep’s Bridge, Yavapai County, Arizona. This latest effort involves sharing a forensic facial reconstruction that was provided by the Yavapai County Medical Examiner’s office, pictured.

Camp Verde AZ (May 31, 2019) – Ann Metlay, artist and owner at Expressions Artist Gallery at 423 S. 6th Street in Cottonwood, brings her ceramic sculptures to Camp Verde Community Library. The display will be in the library until the end of July.Ann’s art is quirky and unique, filled with organic shapes and colors. She constructs masks and wall hangings, stand-alone pieces, primitive figures and beautiful interpretive plaques featuring a Hebrew word, accompanied by a short poem.

… a few weeks ago when I was down at Bubbling Ponds doing a shoot (anything I could find) I got a long sequence of this great blue heron in flight and was totally focused on him and until I began processing the images tonight I did not see the Killdeer that had joined him in a flight to wherever. A fun shot and two birds with one shot … didn’t do that much with a shotgun.
