Staff training in advance of new computer systemCottonwood AZ (August 20, 2019) – The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division office in Cottonwood will be closed for one week between Monday, August 26 and Friday, August 30.During this time, MVD personnel will be undergoing training on a new state-of-the-art internal customer service computer system that will be installed throughout MVD later this year, replacing the existing outdated platform.
Sedona AZ (August 20, 2019) – The Mental Health Coalition Verde Valley’s August 26 program will feature Dr. David Tomasi, a lecturer, psychotherapist, and inpatient psychiatry group therapist, sharing the results of his recent study based on an experiment that combined physical activity with information about healthful nutrition to build a holistic, drug-free intervention for mental health in-patients in the Psychiatry Unit of the University of Vermont Medical Center. Rimrock AZ (August 20, 2019) – On August 18, 2019, at approximately 3:45 PM, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the McGuireville Mini Mart in the 2100 block of E Beaver Creek Rd, Rimrock, regarding an auto theft. The victim told deputies that while he was inside the mini-mart for just a couple of minutes, his gold 2003 Toyota Tacoma ½ ton pick-up was stolen. The stolen truck was last seen driving towards Rimrock. The vehicle license plate was entered into a national law enforcement database.

Phoenix AZ (August 16, 2019) – In an effort to support and reverse declining monarch butterfly populations, the Arizona Game and Fish Department is seeking volunteers to help plant milkweed this fall and winter at wildlife areas statewide. Over the last two decades, populations of the iconic monarch butterfly have declined 80 percent throughout its historical range in the Western U.S. To help stem the losses, AZGFD plans to enhance butterfly habitat at wildlife areas statewide under the Western Monarch Butterfly Conservation Plan.

For more than 20 years, the practice of operating short-term rentals within the Sedona city limits was against city code. That changed in May 2016 when Gov. Doug Ducey signed Senate Bill 1350, which allowed short-term rentals throughout the state. The bill, which became effective on January 1, 2017, had the effect of preempting local jurisdictions from enacting ordinances that prohibit the rental of residential properties for fewer than 30 days. Many factors contributed to his miraculous survival including a sea lion which kept him afloat until the Coast Guard arrived.
