A reward of up to $1000 is offered by Yavapai Silent Witness Cottonwood AZ (May 9, 2020) – On April 28, 2020, Deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 4600 block of Prairie Lane in Cottonwood. Through the investigation, Deputies and Detectives learned sometime around 1:30 AM on April 25, 2020, unknown persons entered the property and shot several rounds striking at least two vehicles. Additionally, two other vehicles had their tires slashed and another bullet was found to have struck a side of the occupied home.

Cornville AZ (May 9, 2020) – On Friday May 8, at approximately 3:45 AM, the Verde Valley Fire District responded to a Residential Fire in Cornville.VVFD was dispatched to a “living room on fire” Residential assignment. Cottonwood AZ (May 8, 2020) – On May 6, 2020 at approximately 7:22 AM, Cottonwood Officers responded to the 1400 block of E. Birch Street, Cottonwood AZ for the report of a male subject who had been observed demonstrating erratic behavior and threatening others with physical violence. Citizens in the area advised officers that this subject’s erratic behaviors have been escalating over the last few weeks. Officers identified this subject as Cottonwood resident, 57-year-old Jeffrey John Thomas. Due to Jeffery Thomas’ erratic and unusual behavior Mobile Behavioral Crisis Team was called to assist with a mental health evaluation.

Clarkdale AZ (May 7, 2020) – On Tuesday May 5th, at approximately 4:00, the Verde Valley Fire District responded to a Wildland assignment in Clarkdale behind the CTI facility.VVFD was dispatched to multiple reports of a brush fire with smoke visible in the Gulch area. On arrival crews found a brush fire by the railroad tracks moving slowly towards the West. Crews had to hike in to the fire approximately 500 yards due to no roads in the area. Jerome AZ (May 7, 2020) – For the first time in 55 years, Jerome will not be having The Annual Historic Home and Building Tour due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. This is the longest running home tour in the state of Arizona, and draws approximately 1500 people in two days for the wonderful celebration of historic and unique homes in the mile-high town. This tour is the major fundraiser for the Jerome Chamber of Commerce.

Sedona AZ (May 7, 2020) – Sedona Fire District (SFD) is hosting the 18th Annual Firewise Clean-up event, May 15th through the 17th. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are some changes for this year’s event. “This year, firefighters will not be available to help unload the vegetation and move it into the dumpsters,” said Sedona Fire Marshal Jon Davis. “But we hope to be back to normal operations for next year”, he explained. The Firewise Clean-up provides an opportunity for Sedona residents to clear unwanted vegetation from around their homes in preparation for the fire season.
