By Tommy Acosta If you make less than $150,000 and think of visiting Sedona, you are not the target of a recently proposed marketing effort by the Sedona Chamber of Commerce focused on luring affluent visitors. The chamber’s request that the city release $225,000 from its marketing contingency plan to be used for destination marketing targeting people with money was torpedoed at the Sedona City Council meeting on January 24. Council members rejected the request in a 4-3 vote, with Holly Poog, Melissa Dunn, Brian Fultz, and Kathy Kinsella voting against it and Scott Jablow, Pete Furman, and Jessica Williamson…
By Amaya Gayle Gregory Today has been a day for musing, pondering fear and denial and how they fit together. For a long time, perhaps as long as I’ve been putting two plus two together, I’ve thought that there must be a reason, thought patterns or something, a genuine equation for the way people think, especially those who think things that I find inconceivable, who hold restrictive ideas that wouldn’t even fit in the Dark Ages … like climate shift is a hoax or Trump is a good man. I couldn’t … still can’t … understand what kind of thinking…

… it was an interesting day on the lake today … the forecast winds of 3 to 5 mph yielded white caps and waves up to about 2 feet high all of which made crossing the lake a wee bit slow going into the wind and waves, but a real fun ride when coming back. With the wind forecast out the window, the birds expressed their displeasure with the weatherman by not letting us get within a thousand yards before they would take off … all of the birds, save the osprey featured above and likely that was because he…

By Amaya Gayle Gregory Oh God … she squirms … there’s no way out! No exit. No escape. No where to go. No one to get there. There’s just this, in all its apparently simple complexity, its seemingly complex simplicity. People, when they come face to face with it, talk about dying. It is the big topic, the one people would rather ignore, deny, or shove under the bed. They can for a while, that is until they open the door and the unwanted guest steps across their threshold. But why wait? Death is a key player, an important feature…
