Flagstaff, AZ (November 7, 2011) – Fire managers on the Coconino National Forest will be taking advantage of the snow to conduct prescribed pile burns across the forest this week. Today, crews plan to burn piles south of Little America as well as miscellaneous piles near Knoll Lake, south of the community of Blue Ridge. Eastside Project: Up to 100 acres of piles located south of Flagstaff and the Little America Hotel, off Harold Ranch Rd. Sedona AZ (November 7, 2011) – The City of Sedona has been informed by CPC Construction, Inc (CPC) that construction to install a storm drain pipe within SR 89A in west Sedona between the Roadrunner Drive and Deer Trail Pass intersections has been slowed due to technical problems CPC has experienced in shoring trenches for pipe placement. Flagstaff, AZ (November 3, 2011) – The Coconino National Forest released a decision on the Travel Management Project today, which will restrict off-road motorized use and will designate a system of roads, trails, and areas for appropriate motorized use in the future. The project is expected to begin February 2012, and this decision comes after a five-year planning process that included extensive public participation and review of more than 5,000 miles of roads and trails. Local Group Grabs Renderings Sedona, AZ   (November 3, 2011) – A local group calling itself Let The People Vote on 89a (LTPV) copied an artist’s rendering of the proposed continuous roadway lighting in Sedona and used it for their own campaign purposes. This video clearly illustrates how the renderings were created and how they were used. Flagstaff, AZ (November 2, 3011) – For Thursday, November 3, Coconino National Forest fire managers on the Mogollon Rim District plan to continue prescribed fire efforts on the Victorine Project near Blue Ridge. In addition, fire managers on the Flagstaff District are planning to burn on either the Mountainaire Project, or the Fort Valley Project. Smoke from either project will be very noticeable during ignition. Winds in Thursday’s forecast will help keep smoke from settling in the community, and precipitation predicted for Friday and Saturday will minimize residual smoke over the weekend.
