Sedona Library Show: Love is a Many Splendored Thing

Sedona AZ (February 15, 2018) – On Friday February 23rd at 5 pm the Sedona Public Library will be hosting a music and poetry show titled Love is a Many Splendored Thing.  This celebration in verse and song will feature a look at the many different types of love which warm our hearts.  The talented cast exploring the many facets of love will include poet Jordan White, official Steinway artist Louis Landon, 60’s recording artist Gary Scott, folk musician Sean Williams, poet painter and performing musician Wendy Harford.  Storyteller Gary Every will serve as master of ceremonies.

20180218_LouisLandonLouis Landon is a composer and Steinway artist, formerly of New York and a current resident of Sedona, who has dedicated his life to music.  His passion is for Peace.  His career has taken him around the world playing a variety of styles with some of the most recognized names in the entertainment industry: classical music for Mikhail Baryshnikov on national and international tours, Latin music with “Pucho and his Lain Soul Brothers” on national and international tours, pop music with Rupert “Pina Colada Song” Holmes on television and national tours, rock and roll with John Hall, opening for “Little Feat” on national tours.  For the past 28 years, through his production company, Landon Music Company, he has written and produced music for film, video, and commercials, including three years of “best plays” and bloopers” commercials for the National Basketball Association. He has released 26 albums/CD’s, 19 of which are solo piano works. His latest album, “Looking Beyond the Mirror”, was released on December 25, 2017.

Louis Landon is currently working with three missions: to create a more loving and peaceful world by writing, recording and performing, music from the heart, to inspire people to live joyously and passionately ,to awaken and to assist people in healing themselves through music and mentoring.

20180215_SeanWilliamsSean Williams was host of the Che’s Coffee shop open mic back when it was one of the hottest open mics in the Verde Valley.  Since then he has pursued his own blossoming career as an artist. His songwriting has been described as blunt and honest. Many of his songs blend sci-fi imagery with traditional folk elements. All of his songs are extremely personal. He writes from experience and sings with conviction.

Wendy Harford is a well known performer, musician and poet all across the Verde Valley.  She is also recognized as an activist, educator and organizer, producing programs such as Celebrate the River and the recent Ed Abbey Celebration.

Gary Scott is a former 60’s recording star and half of the vaudevillian music poetry act Zoot Suit Zebras.  Scott performs at a wide variety of local venues and sometimes serves as sound engineer.

20180215_JordanWhiteJordan White is a local artist and writer, ending up in the small town of Camp Verde by the same current that flows through all of life’s mysteries. She is a subtle yet avid proponent of all things artistic. She has a love spanning literature, writing, painting, dance, music, film, jewelry making, and just about anything beautifully crafted. She appreciates anything done with an aesthetic eye, intuitive skill, and a heart all in. The bulk of her writing consists of poems, thoughtful and emotive, and a few short narratives. Her experience with writing was most accurately described by Richard Bach, as an idea that taps her on the shoulder and won’t leave her alone until she writes it down. It is as though the perfect words to portray an experience have entered the purgatory of her mind and expect a quick departure, lest they be lost in the abyss forever. Her love of words extends not solely to how they approach her, but to the mystery of their code-creating a voice, a rhythm, a meaning, and a heart that was moments before intangible.

She believes the magic of writing was meant to be just that: magic. To create one moment where there is no more to be explained, nothing left to say. The echo of the experience should ring in the listener’s soul as much as their ears. She hopes you will join her in a succession of moments like this as she shares some of her stories in the words she has grown to treasure.

20180215_GaryEveryGary Every is an award winning author who has performed as a poet and storyteller across the state.  He has won journalism prizes for stories such as “The Apache Naichee Ceremony” and “Losing Geronimo’s Language.”  He has been nominated for the Rhysling Award for year’s best science fiction poem seven times.  Mr. Every is also host of the Pumphouse Poetry and Projecr for many years.

Won’t you come join us Friday February 23rd at 5 pm at the Sedona Library for a show which celebrates the many facets of love with music and verse.
