Cottonwood AZ (September 9, 2017) – On September 8th at 4:50 am the Verde Valley Fire District (VVFD) responded to a residential fire on the 2600 block of Pipe Creek Dr.. Upon arrival crews found a small single story home with heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the structure. Crews immediately went into offensive attack. It took approximately 20 minute to get the fire under control.
The tenants of the home, 2 men, 1 lady, and 2 dogs were able to escape the flames prior to VVFD’s arrival. One gentleman suffered burns to his hand and the other had smoke inhalation. Both were treated and transported by Verde Valley Ambulance Company (VVAC) to Verde Valley Medical Center. The lady and 2 dogs were unharmed.

There were no injuries to the first responders. The fire appeared to have started at the rear of the home and quickly spread throughout. The residents did have working smoke detectors. The fire is still under investigation.
