Sedona AZ (December 18, 2015) – The Sedona Fire District (SFD) is honored to have received one of the last remaining artifacts from the World Trade Center. The 5½-foot, 3,000-pound piece of steel is believed to be from the 20th floor of one of the Twin Towers. Our plan is to build a permanent memorial in honor of the 2,996 lives that were lost. Included in this number are 343 firefighters and 72 law enforcement officers. SFD Fire Chief Kris Kazian states “The SFD 911 Memorial Committee has been hard at work to make sure we properly present this piece of America’s history here in Sedona. We are honored to have the chance to be part of the firefighters and police officers history and culture as 9/11 will forever be remembered. This will be an amazing addition to our community”.
This project is designed as a community effort to place this artifact at SFD Fire Station #6 located at 2675 State Route 179 for all of us to remember the events of 9/11/2001. We are asking for your participation in this historic endeavor.
“The Sedona Fire District 9/11 Memorial Plaza is an opportunity for the Sedona residents and millions of tourists who are connected to one of the 2,996 lives lost on 9/11 to have a place to sit and reflect” states Scott Jablow, SFD 911 Memorial Committee Chairman.
It is our goal to fund this project by private and corporate donations. We are asking for your participation in this historic endeavor for Sedona. 100% of your generous tax deductible donation will be used to build a beautiful memorial paying tribute to the men, women, and children who lost their lives on that fateful day of September 11, 2001.
All donations at any level are greatly appreciated; donations of $911 to $15,000 will receive various levels of recognition on the sponsorship wall.
