Clarkdale AZ (June 8, 2015) – Grab your four-legged friends and bring them out for the best play date in town, Clarkdale’s “Dog Days of Summer.” This celebration of all things canine will take place in shady Clarkdale Town Park on Saturday, June 20th from 9AM until noon.
A pet parade, dog/owner look-a-like contest, Chihuahua races, bobbing for hot dogs and a special Yappy Hour are but a few highlights of Clarkdale’s annual “Dog Days of Summer” event. The Verde Valley Humane Society is excited to be a part of this celebration and will be on site with dogs available for adoption. The local Clarkdale Police Department will also be available to assist owners with licensing opportunities. Several pet friendly vendors as well as a mobile vet will be present making this family friendly event the place to be.
Voting in the different contests is open to dog families as well as those of other persuasions. Attendance is free for spectators. Those wishing to participate in the contests can purchase a bandana (sponsored by Nick of Time Productions) for $3, or two for $5, for entry to all events. Participating dogs must be leashed, well behaved and have current tags. Several water stations will be available to make sure our canine companions stay hydrated and happy. Any profits will be donated to the Verde Valley Humane Society.
“Dog Days of Summer” is being organized and hosted by the Clarkdale Downtown Business Alliance. Historic Downtown Clarkdale is a dog friendly area. Volunteers will be gratefully welcomed to assist with all events. Don’t miss out on this fun filled day for both you and your furry family.
