In 1958 Egyptian sculptor, Nassan Gobran and a group of local visionaries recognized the need for a place where artists could work, teach, and learn together.  They established Sedona’s first art center, “Canyon Kiva” and in 1961, the name was changed to the Sedona Arts Center.  Through all the dramatic growth and demographic changes in Sedona, the Arts Center remained one of the cultural constants.  1994 was the year of expansion with the addition of a new building to house an art gallery, classroom space.  In 2001 the mission was redefined to focus primarily on education through the School of the Arts and gallery exhibitions of the visual arts.  Sedona Arts Center with Frazier as Executive Director continues to be a gathering place where artists and those who love art can explore, teach and exhibit.

University Women of Sedona welcomes potential new members to meetings the first Monday of each month October through June.  Women with a college or university degree meet for a half hour social gathering at 9:30 followed by educational and/or entertaining program and a short business meeting.  The main goal of the group is to provide scholarships to women in the area who are continuing their education.  The scholarships are based on academic merit and need.

    Whack – A – Mole War

It looks like the tried-and-true method of armed conflict where armies face each other and kill until somebody wins or gives up, now all it takes is assassinating the leadership Israeli style. We enter a new phase of war where the leaders are killed first rather than last as in conventional warfare.
