Sedona, AZ — Festival partners with The Wilde Resort & Spa for “Wilde Wednesdays” outdoor films

The Sedona International Film Festival is partnering with The Wilde Resort in West Sedona to present its “Movies on the Move” outdoor film experience — “Wilde Wednesdays” Cinema Under the Stars — every Wednesday in the summer season!

Join us on Wednesday, July 9 as we present “Bohemian Rhapsody” in The Grove Fire Pit Garden at The Wilde Resort and Spa.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It won four Oscars for Best Lead Actor (Rami Malek), Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing and Best Film Editing. The film also won the Golden Globe for Best Picture Drama and Best Actor for Rami Malek.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet.

The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound. They reach unparalleled success, but in an unexpected turn Freddie, surrounded by darker influences, shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. Having suffered greatly without the collaboration of Queen, Freddie manages to reunite with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid.

While bravely facing a recent AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.

Bring your lawn chair or blanket and relax in front of a massive outdoor movie screen. Enjoy food and beverage offerings from The Wilde Resort and fun movie concessions.

The Wilde Resort and Spa is also offering local “Stay-cation” getaway packages with special $199 nightly rate for a Grove room (arriving Wednesday), including a complimentary bottle of wine (red or white), waived resort fees, and late check-out at noon. Mention booking code “D-WWED” when making the reservation.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” will be shown outdoors at The Wilde Resort and Spa (2250 W. State Route 89A in West Sedona) on Wednesday, July 9 at dusk. Seating will begin at 7 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs. Parking is free and available at The Wilde Resort and Spa.

Tickets are only $10 each, and kids 12 and under are free of charge.

O Captain, My Captain, My Trump

    By Sanford Bach

When Donald J. Trump descended that golden escalator, America witnessed not just a man — but destiny in a red tie. The Founding Fathers stirred in their marble graves, whispering, “Finally… our sequel has arrived.”
