    … this little guy is quite obviously very much present as he stands watch for the rest of the covey of quail as they forage beneath and around the bush that he is standing watch over. Not a time to fall asleep as predators are everywhere  … on the ground and overhead. A serious business to be a primary food creature for so many different predators and focus on being alive and present yourself. We have our sentinels too that keep us safe from other humans who want what we have for themselves without working for it themselves … this would include other nations and individuals or groups of individuals that live among us. A strong and effective defense to keep us safe! That is simply a recognition of real life on planet earth.

    I had a nice flight this morning, but we had the usual smoke filling the valleys and canyons … also it is spread out over the entire Colorado Plateau and every direction you can see. I was talking with another pilot this morning and he didn’t think we have had a single day this summer when the area was not smoky. Then there will be the prescribed burns in the fall, the smoky pile burns in the winter and then into another summer and more burns. Once again I didn’t take a single photo! Hoping that there will be no burns during peak color this fall …

    Into another busy week, beauty to be found and life to be lived. May your day be filled with joy and friendly people.

    Cheers

    Ted

    Give me to gladly go my way and say no word of mine own woe; but let me smile each day.
    Give me the strength to do my task, I ask; and that I shall not rue the toilers grimy mask.
    Give one loved hand to me, and leave the eve all undisturbed as we our strength of souls retrieve.
    And lastly give sweet sleep, closed sight, no fright that fears will o’er me creep;
    And now a last good night.

    Understanding Sedona’s Home Rule Vote
    Sedona Home Rule vote ballot illustration
    If you recently moved to Sedona, you may notice that every four years, residents vote on something called Home Rule. The July 21 vote is simply about who controls Sedona’s city budget.

    No Home Rule

    Home Rule allows the city government, Staff with limitations, and Council to spend any money they have on any project they want without regard to voter input.
