… the presentation at the Verde Valley Birding and Nature Festival was fun this morning and I continued the portfolio noodling after I got home which yielded these two neat shots. The top photo shows a Hummingbird feeding her two chicks … I was able to photograph the nest and family until they all left. It was a fun adventure watching and recording the partial life cycle of these amazing little creatures!
Below is a photo of a Juvenile Bald Eagle that probable isn’t more than a year old … the feather color and pattern reminds me of some of the blankets I have seen for sale.
Life continues and it is good and we are the ones who make it so! Smile, be kind and keep breathing! Back Monday morning.
Cheers,
Ted
Work as if thy task were made for thee;
Be strong as if thou had courage,
And charitable as if thou had been rewarded;
Remain poor if riches are dishonorable,
And carry poverty with the dignity of virtue.
When others dine sumptuously, eat thy crust;
Let love be thy guide and justice thy God—
Not for thyself alone, but for all men.
Pursuing these things thou wilt be misjudged
And, in the gloaming of thy days, forgotten;
Then, uncomplaining, lie thou down at even,
Cheered by the love in thy heart,
And by the full-grown soul of thy charity;
Then hast thou won the heroic battle,
Yet not stained with blood;
But in the garden of love and sacrifice,
Hast thou planted serenely growing flowers,
That shall still blow when thou dost slumber
In the shadow-land of dreamless sleep.
