… and with it flowers will be blooming and the Northern hemisphere will undergo the annual profusion of flowers and other plants and food crops beginning their life cycle yet again. I took this shot of a flower in Filoli Gardens a few years ago on a trip to the Bay Area visiting my daughter and her family in Half Moon Bay. The gardens are simply amazing and some of my favorite flower shots have been taken there … like the white tulips that were backlit, roses and this one which I do not have a name for … just a beautiful bloom.

It was another good day, visits with friends, some shopping and much time with my new favorite book “Skyhook”, by John J. Nance.

Suddenlink is doing maintenance and upgrades to their system until 6AM so will get this out in the morning … back to the book …

Have a beautiful day and enjoy all the beauty in it … keep breathing and smiling.

    Cheers

The night will soothe you like a tender mother, folding you against her soft bosom, and hiding you from the harm of the world.
… the night will not reject you; and in the still of her soft shadows you are free.
… in this brief hour you are master of all highways, and the universe nestles in your soul.
Therefore, in the night, sit a while and dream awake, ere you lie down to sleep.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
