    Healing Paws

    By Ted Grussing

… I do portraiture and especially enjoy those of critters like this Coopers Hawk. The problem is that usually they are not susceptible to direction by the photographer and could care less if they get their picture taken or not … a treat for me when it does work out.

A fun and busy people day today … the weather is not nice, but it is beautiful … Mariah is still not flyable and when the weather is like this it is okay; when the sun arrives I know the spectacular beauty that awaits me and by then I know that the engine will be running smoothly and cool and my furnace will be warm.

We’re into the weekend … enjoy the family and friends around you and call those who are not … and smile for life is good. Back Monday morning with another photo.

    Cheers

    Ted

    Winter

    Cold lies the lifeless earth,
the birds are gone, and through
the naked trees the shrill wind
    whistles. Though the world
outside be chill and dead, may the
    world within us resound
with gleeful songs, and our hearts
be warm with hope and love.
    And may many an evenings’
    merriment, beside the
    hearthstone’s cheerful glow, make
    sweet the passing time

City Council Weighs ATV Ban Ordinance Proposal
    By Tommy Acosta
The Sedona City Council at its May 23, 2023 meeting took no action on a proposed ordinance that would ban all off-road vehicles from being driven on state-owned public roads or streets owned by the city. The ordinance, spearheaded by Sedona Mayor Scott Jablow on the premise that such vehicles pose a risk to the health, safety and welfare of the community, would impose heavy fines to anyone driving the ATVs or OHVs on city streets, including S.R. 179 and S.R. 89A. ATV rental companies have admitted that such vehicles are not intended or designed to be driven on paved roads, yet, in Arizona, they are allowed to do so under Arizona Revised Statute 28-1174 (4B). Opponents against the ordinance argued at the meeting that if adopted the ban would cripple the ATV rental industry in Sedona and cause much hardship to the owners and employees, as it would effectively, as written, destroy their livelihood.
