… a good way to start the day, a cup of coffee and reading the daily missive … so said a friend I met at a celebration of life event this evening for a young friend that recently passed. Red and white roses were her favorite flowers (white tulips too) … red being more symbolic of life I chose to shoot this one after I got home tonight. The passing from this life is as natural as our entrance into it and although we wish we could always have our friends and family with us in this life, it doesn’t work that way. We do keep them close in our thoughts and they are always with us and perhaps we shall one day catch up again.

Into the weekend and I’ll be back Monday morning … at least that is the plan. Take time to call someone you haven’t spoken to in a while and brighten both of your days. Smile and be gentle with yourself and others, as we all are doing the best we can as we move down the road.

    Smiles

    Ted

And though I have not understood all this,
Made up a laugh and a wail,
I think that the God of the world knows all,
And someday will tell the tale.

The Sad Lesson of Tyre Nichols
    By Tommy Acosta
Having grown up in the mean streets of the Bronx there is one lesson we learn early on, and that’s don’t mess with the cops when they got you down, and outnumbered. The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
