… in putting together the presentation this weekend I was drawn to some of the early photos when I was flying my high performance sailplane … the beauty of aerodynamic perfection slipping through a cloud filled sky at 14,000’ is hard to top. I took this shot on a trip north from Turf and was over the Verde Valley on my way to the San Francisco Peaks before the return flight to Pleasant Valley Airport just a few miles south of Lake Pleasant. It was a day with awesome lift that gave truth to the saying that glider guiders get high and stay high … I really need to do a bumper sticker with that phrase. My transition to motorgliders came about four years after I took this shot and that gave me not only the ability to soar like the eagles, but when things got scratchy I could turn the iron thermal (engine) on and continue without finding a place to land be it another airport or a field … the eagle has wings that he can use to go back up and now I have the engine … I like that!
A new week is underway … the presentation went well and thanks to all who were there for it. An early flight is planned for this morning so time to wrap the day. Enjoy today and help others enjoy their day too … and keep breathing.
Cheers
Ted

I ran with the winds where winds begin
And followed them where they blow
