By Ted Grussing
… whether it be flowers, critters, humans or any other life form, daily life is beginning and life goes on as our little planet continues its journey. Life is beautiful and being able to observe new life as it evolves is a privilege and constant reminder that all is well … of course there is the other side and on planet earth it is better to be a predator than prey … Earth, the ultimate self-sustaining ecosystem, providing everything necessary for life for about the past four and a half billion years and a pretty reasonable expectation of another 4 billion years to go … mostly hostile to our life form, but currently it has evolved to a place where we can live … that can and likely will change too.
There are changes to be expected, species will come into existence and species will go extinct, forests will grow and forests will disappear, mountains will form and mountains will disappear, some in massive explosions … seas will form and seas will disappear … continents will be covered by thick sheets of ice and then it will melt, continents will collide and things will change and our best hope will be to adapt and survive … we as humans are going to save the planet? You’ve got to be kidding me!!! Still we have a really high opinion of ourselves and just as salesmen sold snake oil from covered wagons in the past, we have our modern day hucksters … but save the planet? OMG!
I love to capture the beauty that is life … as it begins, matures and gently departs only to be replaced by new life. This is something each of us is experiencing on a personal level and it is good to focus on the beauty that is here today as that is all we really have … so make it a great day for yourself and those whom you meet and greet today … best to focus on an Iris struggling to emerge for its brief but beautiful life … I took this shot in April so the bloom is long gone, but the beauty is captured, shared and can bring a smile today.
Cheers
Ted
Learn the music of a summer night by the restless wave of the sea, or surrender to the sunlight of an open country where the illimitable sky at last meets to kiss the sweet, green earth, and stay till the
crimson shafts burn the western world.
And something will rise in you that is not connected with the tiring routine of your trade – something strange and calm.
