logo_townofclarkdaleClarkdale AZ (September 8, 2015) – On Tuesday, September 15 at 4:00 p.m. the Clarkdale Planning Commission will host a community meeting to discuss the Focus Area Plan for the portion of SR 89A between Clarkdale Parkway and the Centerville Roundabout. The meeting will be held in the Men’s Lounge of the Clark Memorial Clubhouse at 19 N. Ninth Street in Clarkdale. Residents of the area are invited to attend to participate in this planning process.

In 2013 the Clarkdale Town Council adopted the Sustainable Community and Economic Development Plan. One goal of this document is to create area-specific plans and infrastructure development plans for several undeveloped areas in the Town. Each of these areas is identified as having the potential to contribute to the economic prosperity of the Town. In addition, each of these areas has adjacent residential property that could benefit and would be impacted by increased commercial development.

During a series of work session discussions, the Planning Commission decided to begin this project with the SR 89A Focus Area. Because of the length of the highway corridor between Clarkdale and Cottonwood the area has been broken into smaller components. Property owners and other parties having a stake in the development of this corridor have met with the Planning Commission over a series of three meetings to draft a development plan for this area.

As the Focus Area Plan develops, the Planning Commission would like to receive input from residents of Clarkdale, specifically those who live close to the highway.  At the meeting on September 15, participants will be asked to discuss the development vision for this section of the highway and provide input to the draft plan.

For more information, contact the Community Development Department at 928-639-2500.
