Sedona AZ (October 7, 2016) – The Sedona Camera Club has 79 photos on open exhibit at the Sedona Public Library, 3250 White Bear Rd in Sedona, throughout the month of October.Exhibit chairman Dave Ellison said the free exhibit features subjects including landscapes, wildlife, portraits, architecture, street photography, flowers and abstracts. Included are matted, metal and canvas prints.

Sedona AZ (October 7, 2016) – The Arizona Community Foundation of Sedona and its Board of Advisors invited community members and leaders to celebrate the 16th Annual Spirit of Sedona honorees and 2016 grant recipients at an awards celebration on Thursday, September 29. Sedona AZ (October 7, 2016) – The city of Sedona Police Department is looking for dedicated, community-oriented volunteers to complement the department’s volunteer program.While there are several volunteer positions available within the Sedona Police Department, there is a particular need for volunteers to work the front window of the department’s lobby. The front window is the first point of contact for citizens asking for police services and public information.

These upcoming events are part of the Arizona Humanities speaker series sponsored regularly by Sedona Public Library. Each program highlights an aspect of history or culture, often with an Arizona or Southwest focus. Speakers use a variety of techniques to present their topics, including costumes, props, music, and photographs. Take advantage of these entertaining, informative, and free programs to learn something new.

Bolshoi Ballet production from Moscow debuts on the big screen at Fisher TheatreSedona AZ (October 6, 2016) – The Sedona International Film Festival presents Ballet in Cinema on Sunday, Oct. 16 when it hosts the big screen premiere of “The Golden Age” from the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow. There will be one show at 4:00 p.m. at the festival’s Mary D. Fisher Theatre. With music by Dmitri Shostakovich and choreography by Yuri Grigorovich, “The Golden Age” Ballet will feature the Bolshoi principal dancers, soloists and Corps de Ballet.

Clarkdale AZ (October 6, 2016) – The Arizona Community Foundation of Sedona, in collaboration with the Arizona Community Foundation of Yavapai County, is inviting community groups to participate in the Cash for College Scholarship Awareness Nights. Sponsored by Yavapai College, each of two events provides an opportunity for students, their families and local educators to learn more about scholarships available to local students for post-secondary studies. Scholarship providers that participated last year met with 200 students interested in learning about local scholarship opportunities.

Check out contra dancing on Youtube for a peek at this fun dance form. On Saturday, Oct. 15th, Kari Usher will be calling every dance to the live tunes of Just Desserts, Flagstaff’s open band.  With a strong core of fiddles, whistles, guitars, keyboards and dulcimer, the open band has a different makeup for each dance.

Sedona AZ (October 6, 2016) – The city of Sedona’s Parks and Recreation Department invites residents to a free workshop, Homeowners’ Tree Workshop and Firewise Education, on Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 9 a.m. to noon to learn how to properly select, plant and maintain heathy trees, while also learning ways to protect homes against wildfire.The Parks and Recreation Department, in cooperation with a certified arborist from the Arizona Community Tree Council, U.S. Forest Service and Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management will come together to host this one-time workshop.

The Green Light band returns to Vino Di Sedona Friday, Oct. 7 from 7-9 p.m.The band, will be joined by virtuoso saxophonist Raul (El Jefe’) Bibiano for this gig. El Jefe’ has just relocated to Sedona from Las Vegas, Nevada and is sure to soon make a name for himself in the Sedona music scene.He brings to the table numerous years of experience playing with some of the top Las Vegas acts in the country. His tasty solos and great voice adds to the harmonies and catchy tunes the band is known for.
