Camp Verde AZ (May 5, 2020) – UPDATE – Since the original media release, 5 additional COVID-19 cases involving detention employees have been confirmed. A majority of the employees who tested positive noted that symptoms were relatively minor with at least one appearing asymptomatic. Contact tracing for those quarantined employees is underway and includes detention staff, inmates, and family members  if necessary. Phoenix AZ (May 5, 2020) – Attorney General Mark Brnovich is warning the public about an increase in email extortion scam attempts across the country. The Attorney General’s Office recently has received a spike in complaints from members of the public being targeted by this scam.In particular, “sextortion” emails are being sent that threaten to release sexually explicit photos or videos of the recipient to contact lists, social media contacts, and the general public. Other emails threaten to release the recipient’s browser history or a supposedly recorded webcam video of the recipient taken while they “looked at ‘adult’ websites.”

Cottonwood AZ (May 5, 2020) – On May 2, 2020, around 7 PM, deputies were dispatched to the 11400 block of Willow Point Road in Cornville regarding a single vehicle collision. This area is located east of Highway 89 and south of Page Springs on a dirt road. Fire personnel arrived first to find a red Nissan hatchback sedan on its side. The driver succumbed to his injuries and 4 other passengers in the vehicle, ages 14, 16, 18, and 38, all sustained various injuries which were serious but not life threatening.

By Ted Grussing… every soaring pilots dream is to soar on wave such as formed these standing lenticular clouds that were forming behind the San Francisco Peaks NNW of Flagstaff last Friday. I went to the airport on check on Mariah late afternoon and looked to the NNE and saw these fantastic cloud formations. Forgot to check on the winds aloft when I got home, but they must have been smoking to get these perfectly articulated clouds. I have always enjoyed flying wave and frequently we have good wave conditions up here.
