Evaluation finds ADOT’s pilot system a model for reducing risks from wrong-way driversPhoenix AZ (July 4, 2020) – The pilot Interstate 17 thermal camera system in Phoenix has proven to be a reliable way to detect wrong-way vehicles, alert law enforcement and warn other drivers to reduce the risk of crashes involving often-impaired wrong-way drivers. Prescott AZ (July 4, 2020) – It’s day 4 of Yavapai Silent Witness’ Catch 22 Program.  Today Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is requesting your help in locating fugitive Michael William Burch.  Burch is wanted on a felony charge of Impersonation.  This charge originated from a February 2019 event in which Burch misrepresented his identity to a Yavapai County Deputy to avoid being arrested on another warrant he has.  Burch has been eluding law enforcement on his original warrant for several years.  Burch also feigned an illness to be transported to the hospital where he later evaded and hid from deputies.…

By Virginia Volkman, DirectorSedona AZ (July 3, 2020) – After cautiously reopening with many new protocols in place, Sedona Public Library has temporarily closed the main location on White Bear Road after a staff member there tested positive for COVID-19. The Library has been following all CDC guidance to keep both the public and library staff as safe as possible. Masks are required for all staff and for patrons entering the building, social distancing is practiced, and acrylic barriers have been installed. The Library is routinely cleaned and disinfected.

Sedona AZ (July 3, 2020) – The Sedona Heritage Museum has been informed that they are the recipient of a CARES Act Emergency Relief grant from the Arizona Humanities. Intended to support cultural organizations with “a track record of providing accessible humanities programs, and are facing hardship due to closures and economic impact related to COVID-19”, this grant will assist the Museum as it strives to continue to be open for Sedona residents and visitors.

Camp Verde AZ (July 3, 2020) – The next Music in the Stacks, a free monthly concert series, will take place on Thursday, July 9th at 5:30 pm, “Out of the Stacks”, at Redinger Ramada at the Town Campus on Hollamon Street.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , special precautions will be taken for everyone’s safety, including sanitizing the existing seating areas. Attendees will need to practice physical distancing and are encouraged to bring their own chairs to assist with this.  Face masks are highly encouraged, and there will be some available for those who do not have them.

Prescott AZ (July 3, 2020) – It’s day 3 of Yavapai Silent Witnesses Catch 22 program.  Today the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help in finding Sasha Rachel Smith.  Smith is wanted on a probation Violation Warrant stemming from Felony Criminal Impersonation, and multiple DUI charges.On March 8th, 2015, Smith was pulled over by a Yavapai County Sheriff’s Deputy for unsafe driving.  Upon being contacted, Smith provided a driver’s license of another person as if it was his own.  Smith was arrested for Aggravated DUI with a blood alcohol level of over .20.

Narrow little water ways that go back into the boulders are one of the main attractions of Watkins Lake for me and as oft as not there will be some wildlife back in there.
