Sedona News – Health First Foundation is calling on residents and businesses to contribute to a matching gift challenge with a goal of awarding $100,000 to an essential before- and after-school program in Sedona. Health First will match every dollar given, up to $50,000 in total donations, to benefit the Wildcat Extended Day Program at West Sedona School, a Title 1 elementary school that serves a high percentage of students from low-income families. Sedona News – Members of the Verde Valley Weavers and Spinners Guild will have their spinning wheels humming for “Monday at the Museum” at the Sedona Heritage Museum on January 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The spinners’ guild was formed over 35 years ago by Mary Pendleton of the Pendleton Weaving studio in Sedona along with a few weavers in the Verde Valley. Sedona News – The Coconino National Forest plans to improve the Mescal Day Use Trailhead area by constructing a new trailhead, providing a new access point to four popular trails: Mescal, Chuckwagon, Long Canyon, Devil’s Bridge and to Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness. This project will provide through-route parking for at least forty vehicles, including two oversize spots, an accessible parking spot and a shuttle stop.
