By Ron Vernesoni(January 29, 2015) Perhaps a better title for the recent Forest Service (FS) press release regarding damage to the Jordan Road, Sedona archaeological site would have been—“Yet another archeological site is damaged— more to come”.    If memory serves, not long ago an archaeological site was damaged by rogue mountain bikers building ramps out of ancient materials for their jumps. Albert Einstein said–“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”— in this case, implementing the same FS policies and expecting compliance with FS laws.  In reality, until there are dramatic changes in forest…

By Ted Grussing I don’t think I have ever sent out a photo of Strawberry Crater before, so it seems like a good idea to do so tonight … Strawberry is a relatively recent volcano located about 20 miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona. It is estimated that the cinder cone was formed somewhere in between  the ninth and eleventh century AD. Forest Service road 545 which provides access to the crater runs along the bottom of the photo. I understand that it is a great place to photograph the surrounding area from … pretty good from my vantage point too…

By Ted Grussing … well perhaps not that much for those who surf the ocean waves, but for sure it was for a pair of Hang Glider pilots who were working “ridge lift” in front of the bluffs along the California Coast as we were driving down to Monterey for brunch after church. This is a very neat form of lift and you can soar up and…

Information and Perspective by Warren Woodward(January 27. 2015) Last Sunday I sent out an email with a link to an article about APS getting U.S. congressmen and women to send letters that APS had essentially written for them. My email said this: More APS sleaze, in case you missed it. Big money to both Democrats and Republicans to get what they want. http://azcir.org/2015/01/16/aps-employee-drafted-anti-solar-letter-signed-by-az-congressmen/ I got a reply from State Senator Judy Burges saying this:  Warren:   Would you be kind enough to tell me just where you fit into this issue and how this letter impacts you directly?  Thank you,   Judy Read…
