… I took this shot of two Western Bluebirds just a few minutes before I took the shot of the cowboy on hi horse that went out last night. The bluebird shoot added up to thousands of exposures in an effort to get a shot like this. You have a small target to grab a fast focus on and you never really know what direction they will be going. The cattle pond we were in only had a few hundreds of gallons of water in it and that was more than enough to gather all wildlife in the neighborhood. When the cowboy and his dog returned the dog made the most of splashing in the water and rolling in the mud … it was a beautiful sight.

The landscape of Lake Pleasant below is the sight that the Great Blue Heron had from the photo last night. Easy to see how a creature or person could spend some time gazing at this sight. In this photo we are near the NW end of Lake Pleasant, deep within Castle Creek area. Those are tamarisk trees blooming on the little island and beyond the lake shore are the foothills to the Bradshaw Mountains and then the Bradshaw’s themselves.

I am the dawn, the whisper of winds, the perfume
    of morning.

The passing night fondled me, hovering close to me,
    softly, silently.

The breaking day builds the spirit temple of my joy.
    I abandon myself!

It seems to me that never before have I walked with
the spirit as now, nor overcome space, time, and the
elements as I overcome them now.

    Beatles Tribute at Blazin’ M

I can honestly say, having grown up in the Bronx in the 60s, that if it had not been for the Beatles I most likely would have grown up to be a criminal or been killed in a violent gang war.
