Sedona AZ (March 27, 2012) – The City of Sedona Art in Public Places Committee is proud to announce a new exhibition featuring the paintings of David Haskell.
David Haskell is primarily a self-taught artist who began painting landscapes and seascapes while in high school. Although he worked his way through college as an illustrator, he chose a career in resource management with the National Park Service. He retired from the NPS in 1999 and ever since then he has been painting full-time. David is also a founding member and current president of the Arizona Plein Air Painters.
Even though David is best known for his dynamic paintings of the Grand Canyon and Sedona, he takes frequent painting expeditions to other locations including the mountains of Arizona and Colorado.
While majestic, expansive scenes are often the subjects of his larger paintings, plein air and smaller studio paintings frequently feature creek scenes and fall color mountain landscapes. David is best known for his paintings of the Grand Canyon, but he is also drawn to moving water and vast, open spaces.
