… it was an absolute blast getting back out on the lake this morning … the launch, getting into the boat and the reverse processes went very well and although there was a dearth of birds that we usually shoot we did get some interesting shots including a herd of Prong Horn Antelope that were getting water and then grazing and playing in a grassy area near the forest. I got this shot of a Canada Goose getting a drink of water … sticking his beak down into the water and then bringing his head up to slide it down  … a few droplets of excess water are coming back down.

It was positively beautiful this morning and the water was like glass; a mercury lake as my friend Tore calls it. Beautiful views of the San Francisco Peaks looking to the NW from the lake and life was just perfect. The Osprey, herons and so many others have already left the area, but we did manage to get some neat shots. Lake Mary and Watson Lake water levels are way down due to the lack of precipitation. Next week it will be down to Lake Pleasant and work the shorelines down there on the north end of the lake. Lake Pleasant is not dependent on precipitation to maintain its water level; rather it is a resovoir for water with the Central Arizona Project. For more information on them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Arizona_Project and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Pleasant_Regional_Park .

Have a beautiful day … smile when you wake up … what a terrific way to start the day … here and breathing.

    Cheers,

    Ted

I am the dawn, the whisper of winds, the perfume
    of morning.

The passing night fondled me,hovering close to me,
    softly, silently.

The breaking day builds the spirit temple of my joy.
    I abandon myself.

It seems to me that never before have I walked with
the spirit as now, nor overcome space, time, and the
elements as I overcome them now.

Peace lies over the world and over the world of my soul.

    If I Were Curtis Sliwa
    By Tommy Acosta

One of my guilty little pleasures is imagining what I would do if I was in someone else’s shoes, especially politicians. In this essay I would love to jump into the shoes of Curtis Sliwa, a former New York City vigilante who founded the Guardian Angels and is now running as a Republican for mayor of his city.
