logo_ksbSedona AZ (April 13, 2018) – Join Keep Sedona Beautiful to celebrate Earth Day on Friday, April 20.   Speakers will discuss various topics on the theme “How Can We Save Our Environment?  Come Learn Some of the Ways.”  Appetizers will be provided.

20180413_EarthDay2018The event will take place at KSB, 360 Brewer Road, from 4-5:30pm and will feature five different approximately ten-minute presentations:

    • “Conserving Our Water in the High Desert” with John Neville, LEED-AP, Sustainable Arizona

“How Climate Change Plans Can Help” with Rolf vom Dorp of N. AZ Climate Change Alliance

“Saving the Environment One Meal at a Time” with Don Fries and Bev Bow from Healthy World Sedona

“Trash-to-Treasure” with Leslie Fox of Cornucopia Community Advocates

“Litter & Recycling-We Can All Do More” with Bill Pumphrey and Carla Williams, Trustees of Keep Sedona Beautiful

John Neville’s presentation will cover simple water conservation and harvesting methods that anyone can use around their home or business. From projects that require little more than a shovel and some time to those that need design and equipment, this presentation will take participants through the steps to achieve successful water conservation.

    N. AZ Climate Change Alliance’s Rolf vom Dorp will review the need for local action as well as how to promote constructive solutions to engage and involve the public while at the same time explaining what remedial measures can be taken.

The presentation by Healthy World Sedona will focus on the environmental factors and science that demonstrate how our actions can benefit the planet and contribute to the health and welfare of animals and to ourselves.  Bev and Don will also address how we might achieve the outcomes we wish for the planet.

Food Recovery Coordinator Leslie Fox will help us understand where our trash comes from and where it goes.  She will discuss creative solutions for developing a sustainable materials management system that fulfills human needs by recovering what is edible to feed the hungry and composting what cannot be consumed.

Finally, join the fun with a quick-hitting verbal factoid quiz where the first correct answer will win a small prize!  KSB trustees Bill and Carla will then talk about litter and recycling and what each of us can do to help improve the environment.  Get your litter and recycling questions answered!
