logo_leagueofwomenvotersSedona AZ (September 8, 2017) – Lisa Schnebly Heidinger will do the opening remarks at the Independents Day Forum hosted by the League of Women Voters Greater Verde Valley on Saturday, September 16, at Sedona Public Library, 3250 White Bear Rd, Sedona. Her remarks will be followed by attendees sharing their thoughts on being an Independent voter, issues that concern them, and ways they are affected by Arizona voting processes. Paul Friedman, community leader and OLLI Facilitator, will facilitate the discussion. As a result of the Forum a white paper will be sent to state and party officials as well as Congressional representatives.

20170908_Lisa_Schnebly-HeidingerOver decades as a reporter in television, radio, newspaper and editorial columns, Lisa Schnebly Heidinger, great granddaughter of Sedona Schnebly,  developed a strong interest in Arizona politics and issues. She continued doing magazine work and then books, interviewing Sec. of State Ken Bennett and Gov. Doug Ducey, getting Centennial book forewords from Rose Mofford, Bruce Babbitt, Jan Brewer and John McCain, as well as countless state representatives and civic leaders.

A Flinn Brown Civic Leadership Academy fellowship brought her to a new level of engagement.  She headed an Independent Vote project that got coverage in both the Arizona Republic and Washington Post. Whether it is on Facebook’s Independent Vote page or her own, Lisa is consistently advocating for the disenfranchised moderate middle to return to the polls and says “Our current extremist elected officials speak to the need.”

The forum is free and open to registered Independents. To sign up, contact Barbara Litrell, 649-0135 or blitrell@aol.com

    Beatles Tribute at Blazin’ M

I can honestly say, having grown up in the Bronx in the 60s, that if it had not been for the Beatles I most likely would have grown up to be a criminal or been killed in a violent gang war.
