Trauma Awareness Month: Blood Donors Called to Action in May

    Vitalant donors can win $10,000

Sedona, AZ   — Accidents and other emergencies arise without notice and blood always needs to be ready for patients before they need a transfusion. This Trauma Awareness Month in May, nonprofit blood services provider Vitalant urges all eligible donors to give and help keep the lifeline of the blood supply stable.  Vitalant is thanking all donors who make an appointment and give May 1-31 with a chance to be one of the three who will win $10,000*.

Brian Remington needed more than 20 units of blood to help save his life after he was involved in a motorcycle crash. Years following his recovery, he continues to volunteer his time sharing the importance of blood donation.

“You are heroes that are too often overlooked,” Brian said. “Thank you for caring about me and others you don’t even know.”

It only takes an hour on one’s calendar to donate blood and save lives. Donors of all types are needed to help patients in emergencies and for planned treatments for cancer and blood disorders. The need is greatest for type O, the most transfused and most compatible when there’s no time to test a patient’s blood type.

Most people are eligible to donate blood. Learn more and make an appointment to give at vitalant.org, download and use the Vitalant blood donor app or call 877-25-VITAL (877-258-4825).

    No Home Rule

Home Rule allows the city government, Staff with limitations, and Council to spend any money they have on any project they want without regard to voter input.
