Sedona News – Red Earth Theatre returns to Sedona Apotheca on Thursday, December 19th at 7pm, with ‘Not A Christmas Show’,  an evening of readings addressing this time of year aka. The Christmas Season.

The evening begins in Wales (UK) with an excerpt from the 1952 story by Dylan Thomas, ‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales’, read by Gerard Maguire; then to Alabama in 1956 with Truman Capote’s ‘A Christmas Memory’, brought to life by Candace and Michael Gallagher.

A fictionalized account of a true story, ‘The Chazzan and the Klansman’ by Dev Ross exemplifies the spirit of forgiveness, courage and ultimately the capacity to truly see another that is perhaps the deep meaning and gift of the season. The Yavapai and Dine also have their traditions at this time of year shared with us through the poetry of Tianna Hood.

We return to Christmas again at end of the show, this time in the heat of rural Australia, with a personal memory story written and read by Kate Hawkes.

Red Earth previously appeared at Apotheca with a reading of ‘Loplop and The Queen’ in August, and Blythe Spirit in September, and plan to be back in 2025 with more live performance. To participate or offer ideas for shows, contact them at info@redearhtheatre.org.

This month’s single performance of ‘Not A Christmas Show’ begins at 7.00pm on Thursday December 19th, in the intimate space of Apotheca Sedona (2301 W 89A Ste 104, next to Synergy Coffee Shop). Enjoy a coffee and shop a little in Apotheca (that last minute gift!) before the doors open at 6.30. Seating is limited.

Tickets: $17 online at http://www.cur8.com  or $20 at the door

Home Rule allows the city government, Staff with limitations, and Council to spend any money they have on any project they want without regard to voter input.
