Sedona, AZ – March 26, 2026   – The Humane Society of Sedona is celebrating six decades of compassion, rescue, and second chances with a free Community Open House on Saturday, August 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The public is invited to drop in anytime throughout the day to celebrate this milestone at the shelter, located at 2115 Shelby Drive in Sedona.
For 60 years, the Humane Society of Sedona has been dedicated to caring for homeless animals and connecting them with loving families. This Diamond Anniversary celebration is an opportunity for the community to look back on that legacy while experiencing the lifesaving work happening every day at the shelter.
The family-friendly event will feature activities and entertainment for all ages, including a live bronze sculpting demonstration by renowned Sedona artist Ken Rowe beginning at 11:00 a.m., a custom trucker hat bar from 2:00–4:00 p.m., live music from 2:00–4:00 p.m., and a chance to meet local historians Jeff and Deb Duffy, who will be sharing stories and photographs highlighting the Humane Society’s remarkable 60-year history from 1:00–4:00 p.m.
Guests can also enjoy delicious food from Gerardo’s Pizzeria, browse a silent auction featuring incredible Sedona experiences, participate in a Wine Grab fundraiser, and take guided shelter tours throughout the day.
Those looking to add a new four-legged family member are encouraged to stop by, as the shelter will be offering open adoptions during the event. No appointment will be necessary to meet the adoptable dogs and cats.
Adding to the celebration, local radio stations KKLD and KQST will be broadcasting live from the event from 10:00am-1:00pm, helping share the excitement throughout the Verde Valley.
“Sixty years is an incredible milestone made possible by the unwavering support of our community,” said Jennifer Brehler, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Sedona. “Whether you’ve adopted a pet, volunteered your time, donated, or are simply an animal lover, we invite everyone to celebrate with us as we honor our past and look toward the future.”
Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend.
