Sedona News – The city of Sedona, APS and Drive Electric Arizona invite Sedona and other Verde Valley residents to attend the first-ever Electric Vehicle Ride and Drive event on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Posse Grounds Park to learn more about electric vehicle (EV) ownership and have the opportunity to ride or drive some of the most innovative electric vehicles on the market.

Approximately 15 EV owners from the Phoenix area will be driving their vehicles up to Sedona to participate in the event, answer questions and offer up their vehicles to Sedona residents to drive along a predetermined route.

At Posse Grounds Park, the event will be in the parking lot adjacent to the playground and multiuse field. To drive an EV, participants must bring a valid driver’s license. Licenses will not be required for those who only wish to ask questions or take a ride in an EV as a passenger. Registering for the event is not required but is highly recommended and can be completed at http://bit.ly/4fDDlV2 .

“Ride and Drives are fun opportunities for the general public to experience the thrill of EVs,” said Drive Electric Arizona Co-Founder and President John Martinson.

“Our EV owners are eager to answer questions and share their personal stories in a casual environment. We aren’t selling anything; we simply want to share our love of EVs with others,” said Co-Founder and Vice President of Drive Electric Arizona Peter Culin.

“With there being an action item in Sedona’s Climate Action Plan to advocate for EV adoption, the Sustainability Department is excited to offer Verde Valley residents the opportunity to test drive an EV and learn more about what they have to offer. Overall, EV’s are safer, handle better on the road, reduce local air and noise pollution, and over the lifetime of vehicle ownership, can often turn out to be cheaper compared to gas counterparts,” said Sustainability Coordinator Zach Schwarz.

Several partners will host informational displays, including Valley of the Sun Electric Vehicle Association, APS, Solar United Neighbors and the city of Sedona’s Sustainability Department.

Questions about the event can be directed to Schwarz at ZSchwarz@Sedonaaz.gov or 928-203-5123.
