The JCSVV offers soul-enriching services and classes, all listed on the synagogue website, jcsvv.org. Visitors are welcome to attend services after a security check. Those who cannot attend in person can access the service through zoom.
Erev Shabbat services begin at 5:30 pm on Friday, November 1, led by Rabbi Alicia Magal. A reading from Noach, (Genesis 6.9 – 11:32), the story of Noah and the Flood, enables congregants to come up for the honor of an aliyah during the Torah reading. Healing blessings give people an opportunity to pray for those who are ill, and Kaddish offers mourners the opportunity to say the Mourners’ Prayer supported by community. A festive Oneg of refreshments sponsored by Patti Eyres in memory of her mother and grandmother will be offered after the service,
A fundraiser concert as part of the Red Rocks Music Festival will be offered on Saturday evening, November 2 at 7:30 pm, featuring Asi Matathias, violin, and Matthew Graybil, piano. Tickets are $36 for JCSVV members, and $45 general admission.
Meditation class led by Rabbi Magal and Rosalie Malter will be held on Wednesday, November 6, at 4:00 pm on zoom.
Torah study, led by Rabbi Magal, will be held on Thursday, November 7 at 4:00 pm on zoom to read and discuss Lech Lecha (Gensis 12:1 – 17:27) tells of Abraham’s adventure in establishing a faith in One God as he leaves his home city of Haran, in Mesopotamia in the nineteenth century BCE and travels to Canaan. God makes the promise to Abraham that this land will become the home of his descendants.
The Social Action Committee is continuing to collect food for the local Sedona food pantry. Please drop off cans or boxes of non-perishable foods in the bin provided for collections located at the bottom of the stairs in the parking lot.
